There is a tiny rumor of Toyota developing a 4L V8 with twin electric turbos for the LC-F.

The SQ7 TDI has it, but that's not exactly accessible and its a damn SUV.

A V8 is usually 90 degrees so a V4 with a 90 degree V would probably be OK. I don't really see any packaging advantage. Disadvantages? More than a few.

honda will do anything, and usually excel so long as it involves a needlessly undersized engine

Or one that you have to rev the living crap out of like that NVH mess that went into the S2000.

As you know, I love me some NVH hot mess 4 cylinder engines.

I like looking down and thinking just for a split second before shifting "damn, its really doing 8500 RPM".

Clearly the S2000 was a raging success--NOT--and a V6 would likely have dramatically increased sales, had much better NVH and torque delivery, and been more "muscley". My experience with the S2000 was that I had to work it too hard to extract the power. A V4 would be a similarly idiotic design to that of the rev-it-to-hell I-4.

Supra will be getting a 4 cylinder and a 6 cylinder engine. I am thinking this new car will be an Acura only model with a 400HP 3.0TT v6 (for USA model). Maybe there will be a 4 cylinder Prelude for the US as well, but maybe this is reserved for Acura. Perhaps some kind of eSH-AWD for the Type-R or more powerful version. Japan would get 4 and 6 cylinder versions.

Price would be 50-75K which would fit in with Acura or maybe they will make it more expensive.

Size wise would be similar to California or Boxster (This seems to be California sized).

Plan is to make it larger than the S2000 (2+2 coupe or even roadster).

Concept is to debut at the Tokyo Motor Show.

Expensive Acuras do not sell because Acura missed getting on the "premium" train. $75K for a Japanese Mercury is $40K too much to pay. Honda--with respect to Acura--doesn't "get" that is has not earned any clout for the Acura nameplate to support anything higher than $50K.

No MT, me thinks a DCT but engines will be from BMW. Don't expect a super powerful engine as the top model will make around 335 HP. BMW 3.0T is probably not going to be as capable as the 2JZ, but it sounds like Toyota wants to make a modern day MKIV minus the the ability to add tons of HP.
