I agree with paranoicgarliclover. This is a blatant copy of Toyota/Lexus (rear) mixed with Mazda (color, side) mixed with the regular Hondas (front). Overall, a very chinese design of the worst kind.

I'm not referring to the number of buttons (which I think is excessive in all cars in general), I mean the physical size of the "pad" they're arranged on. I obviously don't know the actual measurements, but the pads look GIGANTIC and, w/ the overwrought aluminum trim, it looks that much more massive and out-of-place. Very inelegant, IMHO.

Other car makes also have large pads, but the ones in the Acura looks esp big.

The screen pokes out like it should retract. I wish these stupid things would, some just want look at the tachometer and drive. Or just do what tesla does, they get everything right.

I assume you haven't seen a Model 3 in the flesh? But bad looks weren't enough to kill the Tesla X, so I doubt it'll dent Model 3 sales....

Not in the flesh, not yet and not in a rush im sure there will be plenty of them come summer. And I hope they outsell everything.

Just a bit of thread drift, but.... They're phenomenally ugly (imagine a shorter, lower Tesla X), and there is a bizzare "unfinished" quality about the sheetmetal surfacing. It's a very odd design.

At any rate, back to the Acura....

The floating roof is simply trite, at this point, and the tailights look to be directly lifted off any number of Honda products.
Agreed. The front is overdone and the floating roof / rear pillar treatment (like most of them) poorly executed. Nevertheless, given Honda's / Acura's track record, it could have turned out much worse.

Indeed, for an Acura, it's good. Otherwise, well, it could be any Chinese car as well; at least the double screen center stack is gone, which is a huge bonus for me, even if some of the switchgear there still has a distinct ca. 2003 feel to it....

True. For a Honda / Acura design, it's not too bad. I quite like the interior, but it's rare that I don't like Hondas' in this regard.

Really? The Civic (esp hatchback) was pretty bad, but I think this is even worse. The new Accord and upcoming Insight seem much more mature and subdued (esp the Accord interior, which I think is excellent), so I was looking forward to seeing what Acura would do.

I actually thought the beak had been sufficient tamed by its last iteration. This new grille is just a nightmare.

Edit: pics from the show floor.

Interior looks better in these pics. Apparently, there's a large storage bin under the center console, so hopefully the high console won't make the interior too claustrophobic. Ergonomics appear to be solid, but I don't understand why the gear-select buttons take up so much space. No more V6, but the 2.0T should be plenty powerful.
