I understand being a LR/RR fan. I am one. But that doesn't mean we have to lie.

You see no similarities between the RR and the Explorer? Really? The headlights and taillights look nothing like the Explorer's to you? Really?

Default 2013 Range Rover

This is the new Range Rover Hybrid, which is claimed to deliver similar levels of off-road capability and durability to conventional models, but with a decently improved efficiency.

It's hard not to be impressed by the headline figures. It's claimed to average 44.1mpg and emit 161g/km of CO2. That's a 17 per cent reduction in fuel consumption when compared to a Range Rover TDV6.

Land Rover's new hybrid system combines the Range Roverís familiar TDV6 diesel and a 35kW electric motor, which is integrated within the eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox. This creates a powertrain with peak output of 335bhp and 516lb ft of torque.

Premium hybrids are all about the wealthy being able to buy a vehicle so they can pretend they are green and not have to lower themselves to drive an icky Prius like lesser folks. The hybrid could get 10mpg and they would buy it.

also because they need to have models to fit different strict global efficiency standards so they can legally sell their other models.
