That looks like it could be a Golf Cabrio 4x4. I wonder if the next Golf will share similarities with it, other than the usual family look they all have.

Granted VW wasn't smart enough to design the TRoc so that it could be sold profitably in the crossover crazy USA, but had they done so, the TRoc could have easily exceeded the Golf's volume and would have been a smart replacement for it. In that market, a TRoc cabrio would make sense.

So why is this in the Concept Cars thread? VW says it's going to build it. This is neither a concept car nor a spy shot at this point...

You never know, they might end up releasing it in the US eventually.

Well, on the one hand they say it is too premium for the US, so they would have to make it cheaper; On the other hand the T-Roc has already the cheapest interior by quite a stretch of it's segment, so I don't know how they could make a US version cheaper; Also, a small CUV would be a wise move for the US, something VW USA hasn't been exactly famous for;

That said, given teh track record of drop top CUVs so far, the Murano Cabrio defines flop (and ugly), and so far it seems the very few Evoque convertibles I have seen are mostly dealer demonstrator cars; I just think that right now convertibles are not " a thing".....

And that would be a typical VW move i.e. arrive when the party is ending with an outdated, expensive product. The TRoc isn't innovative in any way so the clock is ticking.
