There have been long running rumors of a A-Class derived more rugged looking compact CUV/SUV, initially expected as a sister to the current GLA. It seems that - if really happening, but given the Crossover craze everything "rugged looking" will sell, so likely it is happening - it will appear with the next generation.

Looking at this however it does look too boxy, with different proportions, but mostly the ground clearance indicating G-Class portal axis are a give away that this is not derived from the FWD A-Class passenger car platform (can't be actually, in respect of the axles). Size is difficult to judge, given the picture quality, but assuming it is a standard European trailer for one car, I'd strongly assume that is G-CLass sized (btw. the G-Class is not that large to begin with, it just looks big), so like the article I'd say G-Class, and even there probably some special version or a concept car previewing the next generation for say Geneva....

If you wish, yes. A FWD hatchback derived G- Clss look a like, though certainly with softer edges for aerodynamics, pedestrian safety etc.All rumors suggest that look, though frankly they tried a similar approach with the GLK; and totally abandoned it with the replacing GLC. So go figure...

I posted about this on facebook but will add the details here. The rear seems to match the spy photos and the front in the spy pics also has the 4 lights on the roof.

Is that the GLB or the G-wagen? And how did this company get their hands on a future model?

They didn't, it's just a G wagon with heavy cladding or body panels.

Original photos from the first post were rather poor in quality so it was hard to know if that was the real thing back then but with these photos now, it is clear that as not the GLB, if that even exists anymore.

Too bad! Would've been a nice addition for them.
