It competes in such a difficult and increasingly unpopular segement in Europe, it might as well focus more on style and comfort rather than all-out practicality. The 4-door Coupe to rival the new Volkswagen Arteon.

That actually makes a lot of sense. It would be a good move, if just not aligned with my interests. I still regard a 4,70m sedan above anything else,

Pic update. no news outside, but first time the interior, which is no surprise o anyone having been in a recent Peugeot. Small steering wheel, instruments above, and like in the 3008, it seems to combine that with a generally high quality of materials and detailing.

On first look I thought the exterior looked fairly dull, however comparing the photos to the the Exalt concept, it seems quite a lot will be carried over. How that translates to the obviously less sleek shape we will have to wait and see, but it gives me hope.

As a fan of the current/previous generation 508 (test drove the 2.0 Allure twice and the 2.2 GT once), I can say that I really look forward to the next-gen.
In fact, I'm thinking of which of these vehicles would be a great buy for me (I'm looking at either Korean or European car):
Choices are either:
1) Kia Stinger GT V6
2) Peugeot 508 estate wagon (next-gen)
3) Volvo V90 Cross Country
:)

The interior does look very concept car like, but also the very tall dash doesn't seem to look like it will offer the best ergonomics.
The exterior, well, pleasant but unremarkable looking. I guess China is nowadays the main market for non premium mid sized sedans (and as French company cars, if they are a Peugeot or Renault)

they are shortcut keys for infotainment menus, like in current 3008/5008... and yes, it's a gear shift lever... for new 6/8 speed automatic... also, identical to one found in current 3008/5008.
and the whole thing does look rather close to their exalt concept interior...:
...a brave, though dangerous move move! but, since 5008 recently "entered my familiy", I have to say that similar layout in it works surprisingly well, while making interior extremely interesting, kind of "up-market" and pleasant place to be in... hopefully this one will be even more, since D segment limousines are kind of "extinguishing breed"...
