Default Geely buys half of Proton / Lotus

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-p...-idUSKBN18K0HE

Looking forward to this, especially in regards to Lotus, can really only get better.

It really would NOT surprise me if Geely buys the American arm of FCA.

That would make a PILE of sense. So, likely won't happen.

But it'd give Alpha enough money to float their existence in North America for 2 more years, before they finally pull the plug. They've sold 1,600 Guilia's YTD - assuming production / ramp is successful, they'll hit 12K this year. In contrast, the DEAD 200 has sold 9.5K so far this year.

Imagine if they took some Volvo assets, American style and figured out QC in some way...in fact, I bet they have a few cars that could be easily brought into NA for sale...

Again - makes too much sense.

ALFA Romeo is NOT a part of the American arm. FCA is an umbrella company that owns two subsidiary companies: Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram on one side and Fiat/Lancia/ALFA Romeo/Maserati on the other. One can be sold independently of the other. With the penchant for the Italians to want to remain Italian owned, the American arm can easily be cut off.

Point remains...FCA is investing in products that don't make sense and doing illogical stuff.

That is what happens when the economy is declining.

Actually, the remaining point is that Jeep and Ram would be big scores for Geely and all they'd have to do would be to buy 1/2 of FCA to do it.

Not sure Trump would allow Geely to buy Ram/Jeep/Chrysler. Then again if they allow him to build more hotels then he might.

Actually, Geely may need a few good hotels, brothels and casinos back home.

Of course he would. Chinese cars built here instead of shipped here? Win!
