Default S-Class is the Luxury Topauto 2006

Mercedes-Benz S-Class collects further award: The new S-Class is the Luxury Topauto 2006
Stuttgart, Dec 15, 2005
The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class has been awarded the title of Topauto 2006. The new high-end luxury saloon, launched in autumn, was acclaimed in the luxury category.
With a total of 256 points, the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class won the Luxury category of Topauto by a significant margin. The Topauto accolade was awarded for the first time to mark fifty years of the German Motor Information Service (mid). The jury was made up of German-speaking journalists from Switzerland, Austria and Germany.
The new top-of-the-line model from the Stuttgart-based car manufacturer, which celebrated its market launch at the end of September, supersedes its predecessor, the worlds bestselling luxury saloon, with a sales total of around 500,000 models. The new S-Class features a wealth of technical innovations as standard from Brake Assist PLUS with its radar sensors to the infrared technology-based night view assist, from the upgraded COMAND system to the preventive PRE-SAFE occupant protection with additional functions, from Active Body Control to the dynamic multicontour seat with extended massage function all of which make the Mercedes flagship a benchmark for car development as a whole.
Source: http://media.daimlerchrysler.com/gms_frame

Default Wheels Magazine's Car Of The Year 2005 (Australia)

The winner of 2005 Wheels magazine's car of the year goes to...........
MAZDA MX-5!!!!!!!
Here's info:
Mazda has again taken out the prestigious Wheels magazine Car of the Year...

Australias most prestigious motoring award Wheels Car Of The Year has gone to Mazdas dynamic MX-5.
It is the second time Mazdas giant-killing sports car has won the coveted award the first MX-5 was crowned COTY in 1989. Yet the 10-strong Wheels judging team proclaimed the third-generation MX-5 a worthy repeat winner.
The judges described the MX-5 as a demonstrably better car than both its illustrious predecessor and the 21 other models assembled for this years intensive, week-long judging process.
In Wheels February Car Of The Year issue on sale tomorrow deputy editor John Carey says: The MX-5 is so perfectly balanced, so intuitively agile, so thoroughly thrilling, that it cannot fail to make the spirit soar. Carey also describes the MX-5s value for money equation as unrivalled.
Established in January 1964, Wheels' COTY is the longest continuously-run award of its type in the world. Awarded annually, COTY has become a keystone in the local marketplace.
This year's award is the 43th including the years in which COTY was withheld (1972, '79 and '86).
The Mazda defeated a field which included: (in alphabetical order):
BMW 3 Series
Chrysler 300C
Citron C4
Ford Focus
Hyundai Sonata
Holden Tigra
Jeep Grand Cherokee
Land Rover Discovery 3
Lexus IS
Lexus GS
Mercedes-Benz B-Class
Mercedes-Benz CLS
Mercedes-Benz M-Class
Mitsubishi 380
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX
Nissan Murano
Renault Scenic
Porsche Boxster
Suzuki Swift
Toyota Yaris
Full coverage of the 2005 Wheels COTY will feature in the February 2006 edition of Wheels magazine, out Wednesday, January 25, 2006.
