I saw one yesterday and thought it looked like a bloated chromed up minivan.

I've yet to see it, so can't judge it in real life. But from comparison photos with other cars, it does seem quite long.

It's a bit oddly proportioned in person, but I like it for what it is, just a tall, boxy wagon. Like a luxed-up take on the original Forester.

I kind of agree with both, it has MPV vibes (but, IMO more so, the new GLA, which has a B-class on stilts feeling, unlike the A-CLass on stilts of the first gen); But, at least it's a practical car, and you do get "actual car" in terms of usability for your premium money, even if the tech is probably rather mundane in most non pree cars...

Yeah I saw one and it instantly reminded me of an older forester crossed with a jeep renegade. That's not a bad thing. It seems very space-efficient. Definitely function-over-form.

IMO if it's far enough away you think it's a GLS. up close it looks like an anonymous Mercedes SUV. good enough for it's purpose and to steal sales from less premium brands.

IMO it does look a bit too obviously FWD in proportions and a bit too boxy (not in a military, G-Class style though) to really confuse it with the larger, proper premium Mercedes SUVs, but again, that's not necessarily a bad thing, as it does make the car a practical choice. I'd say there are quite a few cars that manage to look anything but truly premium and yet avoid being practical cough *(BMW 1 series or 2 series GC, AUdi A1* cough), so I think Mercedes did actually make not the worst of choices here.

Generally I enjoy every say compact to mid sized car that doesn't try ridiculously hard to look super sporty with fake vents, grilles, exhausts and tiny greenhouse and has a low speed ride quality of a rock rolling down a hill for "handling"....
