Niiiice. The Fusion/MKZ/and Mondeo should already be platform mates.

If the Fusion does get 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter EcoBoosts for its engine lineup, that would be awesome. 1.6-liter turbos are easily making close to 190hp these days, so that would be quite good for a base engine, and gas mileage should be superb. The 2.0-liter would be a nice match for the top-line Sonata too.

2012? Hope so! I also hope that the 1.6 L EcoBoost will be the smallest engine available on the Mondeo cause the weak 1.6 currently on offer as an entry level engine is quite frankly absurd for such a heavy, large car

If I could import a Mondeo today I would. The car is stunning.

Here's the real deal albeit with a lot of camo.

Looks like another potentially gorgeous Ford. The kinetic design looks great stretched over a larger platform. The article makes a good point that this could actually be a hatchback. That could be a great move. Given the success of the Fiesta and Focus hatchbacks the market may finally be primed for a good midsize hatchback.

Looks promising, although I'm not a fan of those wing mirrors. Yes, it's a very minor thing but something I look for - and those look like they're from a late-90s Toyota, while the Fiesta and Focus both have nicely styled ones. Hopefully they're just stand-ins for the prototype.

It also looks like it's getting the Focus Electric/ST style grille, which meshes with earlier reports of an Aston Martin-esque front end. If done right, it could look fantastic.

I disagree. The MkZ should move to a new, RWD platform (and the MkS should get a stretched version of such platform). I don't get why FoMoCo is trying to get Lincoln to step into Mercury's shoes. Mercury was in the business of building re-badged Fords, and we all know how that ended up. Not even Buick sells re-badged Chevys these days.

The next MKZ is supposed to be related only mechanically to the Fusion, in the same way the ES or TL are related to the Camry and Accord. It's a good strategy if the new MKZ doesn't get a baleen whale face like the MKT.

It's fine if the entry-level Lincolns are FWD - just see how well Cadillac has done with the Equinox-based SRX - but like Cadillac they could really use some RWD halo cars to give them the image of an actual luxury brand instead of an American Acura, which unfortunately seems to be what they're shooting for.
