It’s looking good so far, if not terribly distinctive. Looks like it’s the ST Line. Since the new Fiesta ST Line is visually identical to the ST, I wonder if the next Focus ST will also look just like this, in which case it appears to be much more toned-down and mature. GTI-esque even.

Where did you hear that? We’re still supposed to get the ST, and imported from Germany last I heard. That will definitely be a hatch.

As I understand it, the hatch and sedan for the US market are coming from China.

Agreed on all counts.

Yeah, that’s what I figured. Ford mentioned later variants coming from Germany which I assume means ST/RS.

Looks pretty nice so far. I'm more interested in seeing the front and rear rather than the side profile, though

Exactly - it looks good, but also very generic and has design elements from many different brands.
It simply doesn't say Ford, but that might be actually a good thing, as their current (Euro) line-up is far from pretty.

I was under the impression that the sedan is what is being manufactured in China hatch/estate in Europe

Yes you will be getting the ST but that's a niche model in the line-up, my point was the 'regular' line-up of Focus hatches won't be sold there and probably not even in Australia.

There was also another version of the next Focus spied in that same photo shoot. According to below article it seems it may be the Vignale top-spec version. Not sure if it's the angle but it looks massive!

Clear ... Sad. These two cars will be too much close. First time of Ford "inspired" by Fiat.
