No, this is VW polo, Skoda fabia and Seat Ibiza territory. The A3 is the same size as the golf.

indeed, though in Germany starting price so far will be slightly above Golf levels (only place I have seen prices so far), though that might vary depending on market; A well equipped A1, especially if you go strong on the "S-Line" and "individual colors and trim" game, can be priced well into d-segment territory, even when the engine is still a comparably mundane 1.0 TFSI;

Yup, there is probably a lot of overlap in VW's lineups price wise and class wise, but VW is still adamant that buyers do not cross shop between the brands.

I have mixed feelings about new A1.
Front reminds me of VW Iroc concept back in days, and taillights scream BMW more than Audi.
Overall, interior seems nice.
