Dear Mini...get a new design. This is the same basic car it was when it relaunched in 2001.

I get leveraging heritage - but it's getting boring now.

It's like Mini has borrowed a page from Porsche and believes that every vehicle must be a caricature of a vehicle introduced in the early 1960s. When there was the notion of an A segment Mini product, that would have been a perfect time to invent a totally new look for that model to show that Mini as a brand is more than a rolling caricature. The Cooper can be the retro machine, but the entire line need not be.

To me, it looks like the folded down roof can also act as a spoiler. Because, you know, MINI lacks so much rear end downforce :)

2019 MY facelift for the hatchback and convertible, giving you unuion jack rear lights (as expected after they were previewed on various concepts), and not that much else to see. And that union jack on the dash trim, that is illuminated and color can be customized, if you like slightly garish options.

I guess most of the "changes" will be applied to the 5 door as well soon...
