268hp from a 2.0 Turbo is nothing spectacular actually today. Especially not given the exaggerated looks. And then you get a CVT (!!!in a performance car!!) instead of a dual clutch unit when you don'tr opt. for the manual. Oh boy....
Might be fun to lease one and see how many CVTs can be detonated.

Once the "real life", on the road, pictures emerged this car really looks a whole lot better, bearing in mind it is a Subaru product, based on an Impreza. ;) I think it is much better looking than the last generation WRX, which really did not grab me very much, other than the performance for the dollars.

What is really puzzling is the apparent decision to drop the hatchback WRX, right as hatches are really starting to take off in NA. I have always gravitated towards hatches/wagons and dropping the hatch now makes no sense. I still happily own an 04 Mazda 6 sportwagon, with MazdaSpeed3 rims, that I cannot find anything worth replacing it. Give me a WRX hatch, or bring back a performance Legacy wagon, or the current 6 wagon for that matter and I may be parking something new in my garage. :)

It's not terrible but it just isn't "impactful" (I despise that fake word). By virtue of its price point it's near premium, but by its styling it is too "Corolla/Civic/Elantra" with a wing looking. I give it a B-.

I think the expectations in terms of performance and appearance were not all that high, so no surprise there what so ever. The STi is here, so now the cycle of life can be complete for the time being.

I think that it's not oworse than some WRXs before (well, apart form having a CVT). A heavily (but purposefully) tuned proper sports sedan derived from a bit vanilla Japanese compact sedan.

However, with Subaru saying before that the WRX would become a stand alone, higher positioned model and teasing the public with way more attractive concept cars making everyone think that it would be more than just an Impreza with spoilers and then making it exactly that (well, what it always have been), leaves many disappointed.

Looks neat.
And hang on, isn't Mitsu suppose to be developing a successor to the Lancer Evo 10?

On another note......

P.S.
