Default Honda S2000/Baby NSX

http://www.carscoops.com/2017/07/bab...terior-in.html

There have long been rumors (also here in the super car thread) that there will be a smaller mid engined/RWD car replacing the S2000; Well these patent shots indicate that at least a concept car is on it's way:

Well, I suspect this is just a concept cart (unless Honda is going for a Peugeot like steering wheel setup), but I must say that looks rather flamboyant, kind of more like a Baby Lambo than the rather restrained Hurracan does. Drop in the Civic Type R engine, and sell that at a sane price, and people will love it....

is honda crazy enough to do this? I can only hope

the S2000 was razor sharp dynamite, especially the AP1 or AP2 CR

we need an affordable statement regarding the PROPER end of the chassis to put the engine

This isn't exactly new. Stories with the same images date back to June 2015: http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2...nt-filing.html

Honda IS crazy enough to do this, BUT they will have some idiotic way of doing it.

The S2000 was a great idea marred by the high-tech engine that--sure--delivered power, but you had to rev the living hell out of it to make the power happen. Meanwhile, the V6 under the hood of the Accord could easily have met all the power/torque goals and made the S2000 better. Beyond that, the S2000 was priced too high to wear a Honda emblem. It should have been an Acura given the ridiculous price. In the end, buyers didn't warm to it.

The same lack of buyer interest followed the first NSX and now the second NSX. Thus Honda CAN engineer sportscars, but it does not have sufficient understanding of how to design them to get butts in seats and buyers driving off the lot.

Doing a Honda Fiero certainly is possible and very easy for Honda to do. The question is can Honda keep it simple (no), can they give it amazing styling (no, horrific is the wrong way to amaze), and can they keep cost under control (nope).

Sadly, I find it more visually cohensive than is the NSX.... If they build it, it should be an Acura.

This isnt the Honda 350Z, taking some tired low revving V6 and putting it in the nose of a light weight roadster, just the type of chassis that requires a high revving torquless wonder 4 banger, is a travesty!

The Miata has that level of idiocy covered.

The miata hasnt power, never did; the S2000 had a good measure of it and kept up with the six cylinder boxsters of its time.
