I'd say the Cadillac fiasco for one.

For two, the steam of lackluster new products.

Please fix the headline. It is not merger. And it is other way around.

PSA buys Opel.

News from England that the unfunded pension obligation of Vauxhall (GM UK) is over $1billion. This could sink the deal, which would create a single company selling 4million a year.

I'll give you Caddy.... but their products seem to be firing on all cylinders.
- new Volt
- Bolt
- Cruze
- equinox
- Travese
- Malibu

That's just Chev; they're all selling well - and these are products within the last 2 years

Both JD Power and Consumer Reports have seen a decline in quality with the newest Hondas. Much of that is due to the ZF-supplied nine-speed automatic shared with FCA and Land Rover, which Honda has already begun phasing out in favor of an in-house 10-speed automatic. The rest is due to some issues with all-new vehicles, such as the Civic. It's much more of a blip than a permanent trend, though, and the CR-V launch seems to have been quite good.

PSA buying any other car maker is a perplexing move if not a foolish one. PSA teetered on the brink of absolute financial ruin due to over capacity and now it wants Opel and Proton which would give it overcapacity. Geely buying Opel and Proton would make more sense for both companies.

It's been well-publicized that several of the re-designed Honda/Acura models over the last 1-2 years have had extremely poor reliability, but here you go:

http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/c...cura/index.htm (the overall brand reliability may be "Average," but, if you have an on-line account, you can look at the TLX specifically to see that it has much-worse-than-average reliability).

Admittedly, Honda has been on my personal sh*t list since my crappola 2003 Accord, but the problems are apparently fairly widespread. It'll be interesting to see how the CR-V fares....

Trusting Consumer Reports for objective accurate reporting is going to gain as much traction as CNN in the White House
