Default 20?? Mercedes Benz SL

https://www.motor.es/noticias/merced...201956765.html

Rest of the photos at the link from motor.es. I am only guessing this is the new SLC. Looks like a matchbox toy car. Supposedly will come with regular soft top and no more metal folding roof.

if they want this to sell better it should be branded as a baby AMG-GT, not a baby SL

Woops, I meant to write SL in the title, fixed now.

SLK is dead.

Definitely the new SL;

Here is a recent article where the development boss suggested that we will see mules any day:

https://www.carscoops.com/2019/04/me...-far-sportier/

So it will share the platform with the next AMG GT and be "far sportier" (which is probably true to the first 300 SL, but makes very little sense given there is also the AMG GT), and will loose the folding top and return to a fabric roof as last used n the R129; However, unlike the AMG GT, this should still be a 2+2

Interesting that its becoming a 2+2 now. Somewhat explains the switch to a space saving cloth top.

Officially, the SL was a 2+2 for most of it' life(optionally), even though very theoretically (and in the versions with the automatic roll bar it would probably brake a rear passengers neck)

i guess this will be the CLS to the AMG GT 4 door. kind of a sad outcome for the SL, which really should've just been what the AMG-GT was branded as once they decided to make an S class convertible.

Supposedly the S coupe and cabrio are being axed and the SL will come in 2 forms, coupe form and soft top, not sure how credible these rumours are but anything is plausible..

Was that mainly in Europe that it was a 2+2? At least some the 1980s SL had no rear seatbelts or seat upholstery (just a nicely carpeted package shelf), at least in the US. I don't think any of the SLs from 1990s onward have had rear seats.

There was an SLC back in the day that I presume had a vestigial rear seats.

Not sure why MB needs to make it sportier, given the AMG GT. Makes more sense to make it a bit bigger and softer to help replace the S-Class coupe.
