On a side note, how long will this "no stereo in JDM cars2 last? Nowadays, the whole infotainment is so integrated into a car, both technically (voioce command, steering wheel buttons) as visually (one screen for all functions, incl. AC, trip computer, sat nav, iDrive like controls), that these after market stereos (plus the big gapping hole when not fitted) start to look rather archaic in otherwise modern cars. And at least Mazda has "modern by every other market's standards integrated solutions in their recent products, or do they get a different dashboard in JDM?
kinda hard to explain, especially if you re living abroad and dont know the trend here. but as far as i know the JDM "optional" sat navs are, believe it or not, much sophisticated than those integrated european sat navs. and since they are realistically aftermarket products (panasonic, pioneer , etc) they cost much less than the factory installed audios.
furthermore, one of the biggest reason why non japanese manufacturers tend to integrate the navs is that in foreign countries they often get stolen when parked outside. in japan, no one bothers to take the risk and rip off the sat navs. why , because they re damn cheap.
