Default 2020 Toyota Highlander

It's not bad, but a giant rav4, sort of.

The gasoline-powered 2020 Highlander will arrive in Toyota dealerships in December, while the Hybrid in February 2020.....new vehicle platform dubbed Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA-K).
Quote:
Even though Toyota chose to keep the current Highlander’s 295 HP 3.5-liter V6 engine for this all-new generation model, a new hybrid system is used for the electrified version, combining an efficient 2.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine with two electric motors instead of the outgoing Hybrid’s more powerful, but thirstier V6.

In total, the 4-cylinder hybrid returns a system output of 240hp with an EPA-estimated 34 combined mpg (6.9 l/100km), a 17 percent improvement over the previous-gen Highlander V6 Hybrid’s 28 combined mpg (8.4 l/100 km), although the latter was rated at a much higher 306 HP.

Why w/ the side strake? And what is going on w/ the central screen and the surrounding trim on the right-hand side??? I feel like it's going to eat me.

Probably the least attractive if the recent Toyota designs, but I guess the badge alone will still sell it in boatloads; The interior is a welcome improvement.

Agreed. I'm not a fan.

It's a stumble. The ugly side curve thing is horrible. Overall it's dull and dated. The face is ugly in an unobtrusive way. It really is a bad restyle job. Tell me this isn't an all-new vehicle but rather just and terrible reskin of the last Highlander.

Just like the last gen, looks like they haven't taken the steps to differentiate the hybrid from the gasoline version on the styling front this time:

Overwrought, heavy handed, ham fisted styling. But it doesn't matter, Toyota will sell this for the same reason it has sold Camry's all these years.

There's no real competition to the highlander for the given customer base. The cross-shopping rivals, pilot and the pathfinder are no match.

They could **** on the roof as a feature and sell more than the other two.
