Yeah because the Brits letting a few bast them will simultaneously destroy the worldwide reputation of the Civic and elevate the Golf to parity with Toyota/Honda in reliability.

So apparently caught at a Micky Ds

so either a publicity stunt by vw, or vw is just testing it since it looks like the current one almost and no one will notice.zzzz

Default Surely these are fake?

I can't believe a huge company such as VW would let their key new model be photographed (mostly) uncovered in this un-glamorous way.

It looks to have a fair bit of fake, body coloured, panelling still on it but, yeah, itís clearly more evolution than revolution.

It will be interesting to see how the interior turns out mind....there have been a few architectural surprises with VW over the last couple of years.

I think that's the real deal - as some people noted, there is still this typical VAG camo on it (fake panels in body color, (rear) lights disguised by wrap looking like lights, etc.), which, tbj, usually works rather well in hiding final details;

Also, it matches the prototypes seen so far and the info that it is an evolution of the currnet model (the green house seems very similar, likely basic structures are a carry over, like it was the case between Mk. 5 and 6); And even if it was all new with an all new platform, a Golf would still pretty much be evolutionary, because it's a Golf; The ID is likely the more interesting design to look forward to...

It matches pretty closely with the GTI that was spotted in South Africa too. I think it looks pretty good, very evolutionary unsurprisingly. The shoulder line makes it looks like a Mk6 from the rear 3/4. I like the front end on first glance, will be interested to see it in more detail. Also interested to see the interior, hopefully there hasn't been much post-Dieselgate cost-cutting.

The design of the Golf is hardly a surprise to anyone though. We know pretty much what to exactly expect. Nothing spoiled here, it just creates more awareness to the general public that a new model is imminent. May keep people off from buying a new Focus or a Mazda3 etc My 2 cents anyway

Indeed and the unglamorous look of the prototype makes the new Golf look rather unappealing. There's something very much "off" about the nose.

Whilst IMO the Arteon also suffers a slightly weirdly shaped nose from certain angles, in this case I have the feeling there are still some fake panels/wrap involved, that make it look strange.

It looks depressed. But maybe it's just not the finished design.
