I agree, the rear 3/4 view, with the Volvo like greenhouse and the Lexus taillights has very little immediate BMW to it; Still, I think it'S not an unattractive vehicle, but, as you say, I also agree that currently Volvos seem to look the best in the segments they are competing...

Not sure if the 4-Series merits its own thread or not.

Car and Driver is assuming that it will indeed get the huge grille we all fears.

A very handsome design, but BMWs are becoming increasingly anonymous.

If you would follow BMW more closely you would've known for a long time this huge grill is 100% certainty on all 4 series and also M4 and M3. No need for speculation really.

Well, neither one nor the other if it gets the gigantic grille after all. Which is a certainty according to Madskillz. But I heard, and it's been said here a few weeks ago, that it might have been dumped after some customer clinics. I wonder who would be in favour of such an atrocity.

I remember reading that Chinese markets prefer large grilles. Communism for the win.

Indeed, I recently read that the bigger the grille, the more "in your face" the design, the more bling, the more it shows that you are climbing up the social ladder, and that is a very important thing to show in China; SO naturally everyone follows in hope of sales....

Indeed - which helps to explain why all those communists in the US drive the Escalade - "The People's SUV."

Trucks all have big grills to go with those big blocky exteriors.

But there are a lot of communists in the United States, and some are driving Escalades.

Whilst I will say that a big blocky truck can do with a big grille (unless it becomes a caricature of a corporate grille like on the BMW X7 or also the Lexus Land Cruisers), a sedan, coupe or even smaller CUV does not require a massive grille the size of a fridge door, especially if 90% is blocked out with cheap black plastic to not freeze the tiny downsized engine behind it ;)
