Default Mysterious BMW prototype

Saw this on germancarforum, so downloaded the photos of bmw media and uploading the cropped versions here.

Looks to be an early Z3 design judging by the side grill.

Or maybe a Z8 design study?

Interesting to see that the Beaver grille goes way back (relatively speaking)....

Yes, back in the 90ies, BMW used this slightly prolonged grille, back then "retro inspired" - let's remember retro was very much a thing back then - on some studies, though thankfully, it didn't go through (as the overly organic rounded shapes, likely because CHris Bangle took over and he was not a retro guy.

That said, this does look indeed interesting, however given the interior and lack of mirrors, a roof or wipers probably more a concept car never made official than ana ctualy preview, even if it does seem to have a few very Z3 elements (rear lights and trunk lid seem mostly identical), another hint at the concept car identity could be that it is actually presented along other concepts,
