Default 2018 Chery Tiggo 4/5x

China really has been putting in a lot of energy into making smartly-styled decent quality vehicles. This car looks sort of like a Kia, if Kia wasn't trying to be a budget Audi.

This is a small B-segment SUV. Power comes from a 1.5T and automatic or manual trans, or a 2.0L naturally aspirated depending on where you live. China, this car is called the Tiggo 5x. Other places, its the Tiggo 4.

I don't see the Kia cues that you'd mentioned - but I see a PILE of Subaru, and a bit of Chev Trax for good measure.

Interior is nice; but the rest is pretty generic. It'd make a killer Chysler 100.

Remind me again why Sergio Marchionne was such a genius?

This would probably be a step up from the Fiat innards of the Renegade and Compass.

At the time - I think Sergio was the right person for the job. He took a beaten company with no cash and brought it back to life, betting on Jeep; fantastic. Unfortunately - his initial vision was marginalized by distractions on what Alpha could have been, what Fiat could have been; and diverted FAR too many resources to those branches. This absolutely starved Chrysler and Dodge. I've said it many, many, many times - but THOSE are the brands that could have been. Put a different way, he was about 7 years too long in running Chrysler and Dodge.

There were other suitors at the time. Unfortunately, the powers that be decided a failed European company was the brilliant choice. The Chinese came calling three times and the Koreans twice for a partnership/merger that would have catapulted the company, but Mr. Fancy Sweater's lack of vision and his abundant arrogance ruined those chances. I'm hoping that Mike Manley will bring coherence and an eagerness to partner with the Chinese or Koreans.
