I like how the targa top highlights how beautiful the rear fenders are. However, I think the rear quarter window and roofline are very awkward. If the rear half of the hardtop consists of flying buttresses (wonderful!), why didn't they extend them further toward the lip of the trunk?

Finally the best thing to happen for this car:

Retractable Hard Top Convertible > Soft Top Cabrio

Looks good, but to a certain degree this overly complicated roof mechanism seems to go against the "keep it simple" MX5 philosophy. That would fit a German car more. ALso, given this might add quite a few kilos, I wonder if any performance upgradeds are planed.

I also wonder whether the NC with the folding hard top sold well enough, I hardly tend to see them in Europe.....

Great idea, but awful result looks-wise. Horrid looking.

There is an ongoing poll on AutoGuide asking public opinion on the Retractable Hardtop versus the Soft Top version:

http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2...p-version.html

Results (so far):
-Power Retractable Hard Top = 74%
-Soft Top = 26%

No-brainer..........and personally, I would do the same. Soft fabric roof top is cheap and the structural integrity when the roof is up is non-existent.

Power Retractable Hard Top will ALWAYS WIN IMHO :)

These match sales numbers, which roughly favor the hardtop over the soft top 4:1.

Agree and a soft top is pathetically easy to break into which is why I would not want one.

Miatas last forever but their tops go to crap.
