I still think the Axio should replace the Scion xD in the US. It's the ultimate 80s retro car. Just needs a cassette player where that nav screen is now.

It was interesting to read old posts from this thread :-). So few years later, we know that Axio has nothing to do with Vios :-)

facelift has arrived with new 1.5l NR-FKE engine that brings VVT-iE and atkinson cycle as well as 15% improvement in efficiency.. .its got new safety system standard on all but base model and it also has optional bi-led lights which look good for this crappy/cheap car. Interior is largely the same, i think hybrid got nicer instruments and few nicer plastics overall.

Both versions look nicer, but Wagon is kind of nice where sedan still ugly, just less so.

I think only Japanese bring base spec cars to unveil, half of the pics were of base model with hubcaps.

I said it two years ago and it's still so true. The Axio should have been the Scion iA.

The facelift improves on what is still an ugly design. There is something in these small wheel/high but naarow appearance, together with the proportions, that make it look like one of those Chinese cars that are based on some ridiculously old platform form the early 80ies (Like Jetta Mk. 2 or Austin maestro)

A good 3-minute TV Ad featuring the new Corolla (plus Celica and others) worth posting here:

Agreed. Superb advert. As for the car, I find it strangely appealing. A turbocharged version with bonnet scoop and (not overly large) black alloys would be quite a fun thing to punt around :)
