Meyers will sue them for design infringement if they didn't secure rights.

Apparently, this will be coming to the US largely intact (!).

After nearly 20 years of Micro Bus concepts, I'll believe it when it's there ;)

Indeed VW is extremely incoherent about the US market. The Arteon is finally coming this summer but who needs a Passat with an Audi A4 price tag? Why not just get an Audi A4.

Now cut to the dealers who are clamoring for crossovers but VW has none in the pipeline for the USA. They have new crossovers for Europe and China, but the US market gets the class trailing Atlas and the segment-dud Tiguan.

So a dune buggy? Nah. VW isn't capable of it.

The Tiguan is, compared to it's price and segment, IMO even the best VW Cross over; The T-Toc is surprisingly cheaply built, and despite being smaller hardly any more affordable than the Tiguan, and the Touareg is "cheap" when you think it's essentially just another reskin of the Q7 or Bentyaga, but expensive for a VW, and, like many newer VAG products, has an interior where the size/amount of touchscreens has to compensate a material quality unworthy of the price tag...

SO I'm not sure that the US is really missing out on much with not getting those...

The RAV4 and CRV destroy the Tiguan for sales and they both are of better quality, better reliability, and overall far better designs. Heck, even the old Escape is better than the much newer Tiguan. VW just doesn't understand the market here, nor do there seem to be showing any attempt to do so.

But, to be fair, did VW ever say that any of those concepts were more than just that?. I actually don't recall. I assumed it was simply the Vanagon faithful that were hoping.... ;)

I think at least 3 times (initial concept in 2001, than announced to have be built as a Microbus XS based on the up! 10 years later, and now for at least 2 - 3 years that we will have an electric one, at some time, likely in a distant future) a production Bus was announced, or hinted at, to be then cancelled. But hey, likely we will have another MQB based CUV instead, that is 1cm shorter than the next bigger model, but has a half inch larger touch screen,s o great!
